Who is Zatanna? and The Starting Point

Who is Zatanna?

I will forgive this question being asked. After all, I had no idea who she was until recently.

There is a lot of information about Zatanna* on the internet, but she is, quite simply, the most amazing magician.

Her powers are pretty much unlimited, especially if you look at her powers. She's a member of the JLA, and is one of the few people to know who Batman really is.

The best part of all? She's so down to earth, and yet she wears scruffs when she's not fighting crime. No skimpy dresses when she's chilling!

The Starting Point

Now, it seems simpler if I make a list of the things I need to do to achieve my Zatanna character for the LFCC, so here goes:

• The Clothes:
• The Top-Hat: This is pretty much just a top hat with a red ribbon around it, but I want an authentic looking one; not one that can be folded.
• The Jacket: Hopefully, this should not be too difficult to come across. However, it is quite short, and with tailcoat tails, so it could be awkward. My friend "Harley" and I did manage to find a jacket which would have been perfect, but it was white and, when we tried to dye, it, ended up with a slightly grey jacket. It just looks a bit dirty. Looks like the search will have to continue...
• The Shirt: The shirt is pretty much already sorted! Hers is an awkward one without the full-folded collar, but I have one which fits (sort of, needs taking in), so this stage is pretty much done (however, won't count it as done until it fits perfectly, as hers does).
• Bow-tie: This one is DONE. Surprisingly easy to find one, actually.
• Leotard: This is where the issues arise for me. I am extremely body-conscious, and wearing a leotard is my idea of hell, if I'm honest. However, I'm hoping that I may possibly be able to get away with short-shorts instead. I wil buy the leotard first, and then see how it looks before deciding.
• Fishnet Tights: Not sure how easily I can get hold of fishnet tights. I have fishnet stockings, but not sure yet. Will do more research!
• Shoes: I have some black high-heeled shoes, but I think that, as a woman, you can never have too many shoes, so I will hunt for the perfect shoes (mine don't quite look right).
• The Accessories/Other:
• The Wand: Zatanna has quite a long wooden wand, which I will probably end up making out of a random piece of wood. I have a small plastic wand, though!
• The Tricks: Obviously, I will need to learn some tricks to pull off the Zatanna thing. I have already started and am constantly revising what I've learned, but I need something bigger... watch this space!
• The Words: Now, to cast spells, Zatanna speaks sdrawkcab (backwards). I need to work on this if I'm going to be at all accurate in my depiction of her.

So, not that much, eh?
